I am spending this week in Chicago for training for my “day job” as a Regional Gift Planner for the ELCA. Honestly, long, all day meetings are difficult for me to sit through with my ADHD, so I always bring something to doodle on.

As I continue to learn and explore the world of surface pattern design, I am working to discover and zero in on my own “signature style.” This is not going to be a wordy post, but rather a glimpse at what I have been working on toward identifying my own style. Below are the doodles from day one of training. I can’t wait to get home to my computer and start drawing these in Illustrator.

I feel like these illustrations are hyper-active, whimsical, joyful and bold, which is honestly how I would like to describe myself and my designs. I also have a first draft of my “banner” for my social media profiles. I need to work a little more on size and such, but I really am digging it as well.

I would love to know your thoughts below in the comments section. With what you know of me, do they fit?
