On a trip back from Florida with a friend, I started sharing that the August Pouch of the Month Block was a struggle. I was having trouble coming up with a design. She replied, “August…August is for Back to School…”

She is a teacher…and the idea was sparked! Here is what I designed in EQ8, after about 12 tries…

The blocks pieces together very quickly and easily. It starts with the bottom pencil. Which honestly, I discovered works great as a block all by itself.

Then you add the other two pencils. Again, these make a great little block. It would actually work great at the front of a “sew-together-bag” from Sew Demented.

After piecing the pencils, the apple is next. It also works well as a stand alone block…or would work great on the other side of the sew-together-bag.

But, for the sample, I of course, kept them all together. Purchase the pattern here. Let me know what you think…who are the amazing teachers in your life that would love this as a Back to School gift? It only took me about 3 hours start to finish.
