The Pouch of the Month Club from Jittery Wings gives you access to a new foundation paper piecing pattern each month for less than purchasing the pattern individually. Pattern designs are whimsical and can usually be completed in an hour or so. Each month includes directions for how to incorporate the finished pattern into a simple zip pouch you can keep, sell or give as a gift. You could also save them to be saved used for a quilt at the end of the year….or go ahead and make more than one. No judgement (wink).

    CLUB BENEFITS!

Some patterns will be sold separately for $5.00+, so by subscribing you are saving a lot throughout July to December of the year. You will also have access to some patterns that will not be sold separately.  Each month you will gain access to the new pattern on the 1st before it is available for single purchase. First pattern will release on July 1st, 2019. Last pattern download access will be December of 2019. If you would like the full year, please see the full year subscription here.

You have access to patterns forever.  Due to the nature of downloads they may not be returned or refunded. The full cost for the year’s club fee is paid up front. There will be no additional fees during the year. You may choose not to renew the subscription for the following year, but it may not be cancelled. Renewals are not automatic. They are all manual, so your card will not be charged again without your action.

  • Want to Improve Your Practice with your free-motion quilting? Feeling frustrated that nothing is coming out the way you want?

An individual critique and tips session with Mitzie serves to help you identify the areas of your quilting practice that need improvement while reinforcing the areas where you are doing well.

By paying in advance, you receive the 5th lesson free.

HOW DOES IT WORK? (This applies for each of the 5 lessons.)

    1. Purchase the Lesson.
    2. Mitzie will contact you directly to schedule your personalized session. Sessions are 30 minutes and can be held via Zoom, Facebook or Skype (Video) call or by phone. Internet access, webcam, microphone and speakers are required for video calls. This works on a smartphone or tablet as well. (It is totally appropriate to consult a child or grandchild for help…wink.)
    3. Video yourself quilting. Don’t be scared of this. Have a friend or family member – maybe a child or grandchild – video your hands while you free motion quilt switchbacks** for about 2 or 3 minutes; nothing long or complicated. It doesn’t even need to be great quality; just enough that I can watch what you are doing. It is also great if you ask them to start the video by showing your posture and then moving to your hands.
      • If a video is not possible or you aren’t comfortable with it, please click here to schedule the photo only edition of personalized quilting lessons.
      • **Click here for how to quilt switchbacks.
      • If you have taken my class or feel beyond switchbacks, switchbacks are not required. They just are a great way to begin, and they tell me a lot about your current skill level. Instead, you may quilt another motif you are struggling with or are trying to learn.
      • After the first lesson, other motifs will be explored.
    4. Email the video to Mitzie one week prior to the lesson. Mitzie will review and make notes about ways you can improve your practice.
    5. Critique & Tip Session. During the pre-scheduled lesson, Mitzie will walk you through areas of your quilting that are positive and working and offer tips for areas to improve. Examples include ways to control your speed, move your hands, etc. Mitzie will provide you with a one-page, typed critique based on timestamps from your video so you can refer back to it following the session.
    6. Practice what you learned! The best part!

If you have questions, please contact Mitzie here.

    3. Photograph your quilting. Quilt three sets of switchbacks** about 6″ by 6″ on a practice quilt sandwich. Number 1-3 in the order you quilted them. Write Front on the front of the sandwich and Back on the back of the sandwich. Take a picture of each of the three sets front and back. This will help me see Front 1 and Back 1 together. You should have 6 images total.

This pattern uses traditional flying geese and basic piecing methods to create a dynamic play on a circular motion. This pattern is not complicated and goes together quickly considering the size. Finished quilt works as an oversize Twin Bed quilt or a cover up quilt for an afternoon on the sofa. Four identical 12” blocks combine to make one 24” block. Full quilt includes twelve, 24” blocks. Make more or less 24“ blocks to vary the size. Easily add four more for a Queen size quilt.
